Situation

Aylesbury is the county town of Buckinghamshire and has been a major town of importance since Anglo Saxon times and is mentioned in the Doomsday book. Excavations in the town centre in 1985 found an Iron Age hill fort dating from the early 4th century bc. Aylesbury provides a great mix of day to day shopping facilities. There is a wide choice of schooling for all ages including the highly regarded Aylesbury High and Grammar schools. The town is served by Aylesbury railway station and Aylesbury Vale Parkway railway station; the latter is a terminus of passenger services of the London to Aylesbury line from London Marylebone. Stoke Mandeville railway station also lies in the town's urban area again providing a service to London Marylebone.
