The property
This 19th Century cottage has been extended and re-imagined to create the perfect home for the modern family. Nestled in the heart of this charming community led village in Hertfordshire, this home retains its Victorian character whilst providing a fantastic layout for family life.
A gated, gravel laid driveway leads up to the front door, with a mature wisteria creating a pretty backdrop. There is a large entrance hall, with a downstairs WC immediately to your right, and a generous hallway space that could easily be used to house a desk for those who work from home. The living room spans the back of the house, large enough to accommodate a generous seating area in front of the inset gas fire, as well a secondary area which is ideal for play. There is a door out onto the rear garden and window to the side, making for a bright and pleasant space.
A good size kitchen/diner occupies the left hand flank of the house. With terracotta style floor tiles and shaker units it really has a farmhouse/country feel. This space is sociable and bright and perfect for family dinner time and socialising generally. There is ample cupboard space and views to the front and rear. A separate utility room provides a second sink, space for a washer and dryer and a door out onto the garden.
Upstairs there are four bedrooms and a large four piece family bathroom. The main bedrooms is dual aspect with large fitted wardrobes. There are two more double bedrooms at the front of the house with leafy views. The third bedroom has views to the side. There is also a large airing cupboard and access to the loft space.
At the front of the house is a gated, gravel driveway with space to park a family car. To the rear, is a low maintenance garden, mainly laid to lawn, with a large patio area perfectly suited to those warm evenings and al fresco dining.
All in all a superb and characterful family home in a genuinely charming village. But please do not just take my word for it, browse the photos, watch the video tour and if you think this could be the home for you then please call me to arrange a viewing.
